Canyoning is a family activity with Sagada Outdoors!

Canyon trips are typically available from October to May. The canyon is closed during rainy season or storms due to flash flood potential. Canyon trips leave Sagada at 7:30AM, though larger groups may prefer to leave earlier to assure transit before dark. We drive 15 minutes to the village of Balugan, then walk 1.5 hours to the canyon, past vegetable farms, an isolated village, some of Sagada’s least visted rice terraces, and pine forest. Once in the canyon we descend a sequence of waterfalls, rappelling, jumping, and scrambling. Transportation, equipment, guides, lunch and water are provided. Life jackets are provided for non-swimmers.

You will need clothes and footwear that can get wet. We provide splash tops or neoprene tops for warmth. We discourage bringing jewelry, valuables, or expensive gadgets into the canyon: it’s a land of rock and water, and things can get lost or damaged.

Please advise us in advance of any dietary restrictions or health conditions. This trip requires no special experience, but it is a full day of hiking, rappelling, swimming, and scrambling down a boulder-strewn streambed, and some fitness is required.

Our first rappel is quite easy and makes a good opportunity for practice, but guests with no rappelling experience may choose to have a short rappelling class the afternoon before the trip.
